Industrial Designer

About the role

Dyson is seeking an Industrial Designer to join its Global Design and Product Experience team in Shenzhen, China. The role will champion design and user experience across the business, collaborating with research, development, engineering and manufacturing partners worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Own the look and feel of Dyson’s products and ensure design consistency across multiple projects.
• Rapidly visualise high‑resolution design concepts and present them to senior stakeholders.
• Collaborate daily with global designers, engineers and product managers, acting as the voice of design.
• Negotiate and challenge development, manufacturing and cost constraints while evaluating DFM and tooling considerations.
• Create innovative solutions that balance aesthetics, user interaction, performance, manufacturability and cost.
• Develop refined 3D surfaces for rendering, model building and production, delivering A‑class Surface CAD to engineering and tooling teams.
• Utilise digital and physical tools (models, rigs, renderings, 2D prints) to validate and communicate design solutions.

Required profile

• A degree in Industrial Design, Product Design or a related field.
• 2+ years of hands‑on design experience.
• Excellent verbal and visual communication skills.
• Assertive, diplomatic and receptive to constructive criticism.
• Proficiency in Mandarin and English is desired.
• A PDF portfolio or website link must be provided with the application.

Required skills

• 3D CAD applications: NX, Rhino, Alias, SolidWorks.
• Rendering software: KeyShot, VRed.
• 2D design tools: Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign.
• Strong sketching, form development and 3D surface modelling abilities.
