About the role

Teachanywhere is seeking a Head of English to lead its English department in Shanghai. The successful candidate will oversee curriculum delivery, mentor teachers and drive continuous improvement. This role combines strategic leadership with hands‑on teaching expertise.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the English department and set strategic direction.
• Develop and implement a curriculum aligned with UK standards.
• Manage and support teaching staff, including performance reviews.
• Promote inquiry‑based learning across all classes.
• Provide targeted support for EAL (English as an Additional Language) students.
• Collaborate with senior leadership on school‑wide initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with local and international education regulations.
• Contribute to the ongoing development and reputation of the school.

Required profile

• Qualified teacher with a minimum of four years post‑qualifying experience.
• Previous departmental leadership experience.
• Familiarity with the UK curriculum is highly desirable.
• Ability to work effectively within a multicultural environment.
• Adaptable, flexible and a positive approach to life.
• Commitment to contributing to the school’s continuous development.
