Hardware Engineer

About the role

The Hardware Engineer will join Magna Electronics’ hardware team to develop advanced driver‑assistance systems (ADAS). The role involves translating customer requirements into robust hardware solutions while meeting cost, schedule, quality and manufacturing targets.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse customer hardware requirements, identify risks and ensure compliance with cost, timing and quality goals.
• Collaborate with system engineers to define technical solutions and capture circuit schematics.
• Perform board layout, routing and design analysis including SPICE simulations.
• Prepare technical notes, test reports and maintain complete design documentation (HSIS, PoD, WCCA).
• Lead design FMEA, reliability studies, failure‑tree and safety‑hazard analyses.
• Verify design concepts, conduct PoD and DFMEA tests, and resolve verification issues.
• Support product industrialisation, PPAP delivery and cross‑team hardware knowledge transfer.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s (minimum 7 years) or Master’s (minimum 5 years) degree in Electronics with automotive electronics experience.
• Native Chinese speaker with fluent English (CET‑4 level).
• Experience in mass‑production hardware design, preferably in radar, vision or other ADAS products.

Required skills

• Hardware design for mass‑production electronics (Power, MCU, high‑speed circuits).
• Proficiency with schematic capture tools such as Altium, Mentor or Cadence.
• Simulation expertise using MathCAD, SPICE or ANSYS.
• PCB layout and routing knowledge.
• Familiarity with reliability and functional‑safety tools (IQRM, Item toolkit, Medini) and ISO 26262.
• Understanding of CAN protocol, UDS and network management.
