Foundation Accountant

About the role

The Foundation Accountant will ensure accurate, transparent, and compliant financial management for the Duke Kunshan University Education Development Foundation. This position oversees day‑to‑day accounting, financial reporting, donor fund tracking, payroll filings, tax compliance, procurement, and audit coordination.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain the general ledger, journals, and subsidiary ledgers; prepare monthly and annual financial statements.
• Record and classify donation receipts, track donor‑restricted funds, and support donor reporting.
• Review expense reports, ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax rules, and internal policies.
• Lead internal and external audits and strengthen internal controls.
• Manage bank accounts and payment channels (e.g., Alipay, WeChat Pay).
• Handle periodic and annual tax filings, social security, and payroll‑related submissions.
• Monitor tax law changes affecting the foundation.
• Coordinate procurement processes, prepare purchase requisitions, and liaise with vendors.
• Optimize accounting processes and financial systems.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Master’s preferred).
• 2–5 years of accounting experience, preferably in a foundation, NGO, or educational institution.
• Professional certification (CPA, ACCA, etc.) is an asset.
• Strong knowledge of nonprofit accounting requirements in China.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with good English proficiency.

Required skills

• Proficiency with accounting software, specifically Oracle Fusion.
• Experience using Salesforce for fund and donor tracking.
