Finance Business Controller

About the role

The Finance Business Controller will lead financial operations for the APA area, ensuring strong governance, transparency and alignment with the organisation's strategic goals. Reporting to the M&O APA Finance Director, the role is based in Shanghai and works closely with local and global finance teams.

Key responsibilities

• Support and oversee all financial activities within the region, maintaining robust governance and accountability.
• Deliver accurate and timely financial reporting, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets and cash‑flow analyses for executive decision‑making.
• Assist in budgeting and forecasting processes, partnering with local finance teams to produce realistic, data‑driven plans.
• Interpret complex financial data to identify trends, risks and opportunities, providing actionable recommendations.
• Establish and maintain internal controls to ensure compliance with Bureau Veritas policies, international accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with global finance leadership to align area activities with the overall financial strategy.
• Act as a strategic finance partner to area leaders, offering guidance that drives performance‑focused decisions.
• Champion initiatives that improve financial performance, operational efficiency and cost optimisation, while complying with HSE management system requirements.

Required profile

• Strong background in finance and accounting, preferably with experience in a multinational environment.
• Proven ability to analyse complex financial information and present clear insights.
• Excellent governance and risk‑management mindset.
• Effective communication and partnership skills with senior business leaders.
