Field Quality Engineer (IV)

About the role

The Field Quality Engineer (FQE) improves service quality, customer satisfaction, and equipment reliability across Applied Materials' installed base. Reporting to Global Field Quality, the role links field service teams, engineering, manufacturing, quality organizations, and customers to drive root‑cause investigations and sustainable corrective actions.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze field service data, customer feedback, and equipment performance trends to identify quality improvement opportunities.
• Lead root‑cause investigations and corrective actions for recurring product and service issues.
• Partner with cross‑functional teams to resolve complex technical problems and improve service documentation.
• Develop and track quality metrics, dashboards, and action plans to drive continuous improvement.
• Support customer escalations through technical analysis and structured problem solving.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of experience in quality engineering, field service engineering, manufacturing, or customer support.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with ability to interpret technical data and identify trends.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills; ability to influence without direct authority.

Required skills

• Experience in semiconductor equipment or high‑tech manufacturing.
• Knowledge of quality management systems and continuous improvement methodologies.
• Familiarity with reliability engineering, failure analysis, and data‑driven problem solving.
• ASQ, Lean Six Sigma or other quality‑related certifications.
