Drive Systems Cyber Security Engineer

About the role

The Drive Systems Cyber Security Engineer will develop and validate Car‑IT security concepts and requirements for vehicle drivetrain software. This role supports global projects while acting as the primary security contact for China‑market development and after‑sales support.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct Threat Analysis and Risk Assessment (TARA) for vehicle IT systems and components.
• Define cybersecurity goals and derive technical security requirements aligned with ISO/SAE 21434, GB 44495 and other standards.
• Develop and document Car‑IT security concepts for in‑vehicle and external interfaces.
• Provide security assessments and sign‑offs during the release process.
• Serve as central contact for Car‑IT security topics in global and China‑specific projects.
• Collaborate with Mercedes‑Benz R&D teams in China, Germany, India, plants and external suppliers.
• Define technical specifications for future drivetrain software functions.

Required profile

• Degree in Automotive Engineering, Electrical Engineering, IT, Cybersecurity or a related field.
• 3‑5 years of experience in automotive or Car‑IT security at OEMs, suppliers or cybersecurity firms.
• Hands‑on experience with ISO/SAE 21434, GB 44495 and familiarity with NIST.
• Fluent English; German is a plus.
• Strong knowledge of automotive system architectures, security lifecycle and threat analysis.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, safety analysis software and requirements‑management tools.
• Analytical mindset, self‑responsibility, intercultural communication skills and willingness to travel.
• Valid passenger‑car driver’s licence, preferably with at least three years of driving experience.
