Director of Commercial Strategy

About the role

Mandarin Oriental Sanya is seeking a senior leader to shape and execute its commercial strategy. Reporting directly to the General Manager, you will drive the hotel’s sales, marketing, and revenue initiatives to achieve budgeted targets while upholding the brand’s luxury standards.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement an annual Sales & Marketing Plan with clear action items for all departments.
• Establish measurable performance targets for the internal team and regional sales offices.
• Collaborate with the General Manager to set a strategic rate structure across market segments.
• Work with the Revenue & Reservation Manager to apply a Yield Management System that meets budget goals.
• Control the marketing budget, ensuring spend aligns with the approved annual level.
• Oversee overall room availability, enforce inventory controls, and maximize revenue through the Director of Revenue.
• Lead the sales team to achieve goals outlined in the Marketing Plan.
• Partner with the Director of Sales and regional offices to hit measurable result targets.
• Plan and execute sales trips to key markets, identifying new opportunities.
• Continuously monitor local and international market trends and adjust strategies accordingly.

Required profile

• Proven senior‑level experience in commercial strategy, preferably within luxury hospitality.
• Strong analytical mindset with a track record of meeting or exceeding revenue and budget targets.
• Excellent leadership and communication skills, able to influence cross‑functional teams.
• Growth‑oriented, integrity‑driven, and comfortable working in a collaborative, high‑performance environment.
