Customer Engineer IV – Field Service (EPI)

About the role

As a Field Service Engineer (Customer Engineer) at Applied Materials, you act as the primary liaison with customers, installing, maintaining, and upgrading advanced semiconductor equipment. You will leverage digital analytics and diagnostic tools to troubleshoot complex issues while ensuring safe and efficient operation of the systems.

Key responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and upgrade customer equipment across electrical, vacuum, mechanical, plasma, hydraulic, and gas systems.
• Apply troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills using company diagnostic tools and documentation.
• Develop and follow documented procedures and task plans.
• Communicate with customers and internal business units, leading projects as needed.
• Train and mentor junior Field Service Engineers.
• Fulfill additional duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree with 7‑10 years of experience in the semiconductor or equipment support industry.
• Advanced mechanical aptitude covering pneumatics, hydraulics, electronics, vacuum, and thermodynamics.
• Strong knowledge of hand tools, digital multimeters, and wafer processing parameters.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Basic proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain a passport for travel.
• Ability to meet on‑site safety, environmental, and COVID‑19 requirements.
