Customer Engineer IV – Etch Equipment

About the role

As a Field Service Engineer (Customer Engineer) at Applied Materials, you act as the direct liaison with customers, installing, maintaining, and upgrading semiconductor equipment. You will use digital analytics and basic diagnostic techniques to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.

Key responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and upgrade customer equipment.
• Apply troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills using company diagnostic tools and documentation.
• Follow and generate documented procedures and published task plans.
• Communicate with customers and internal business units, leading projects as necessary.
• Train and mentor junior Field Service Engineers.
• Fulfill additional duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree.
• 7–10 years of experience in the semiconductor or equipment support industry.
• Advanced mechanical aptitude with pneumatics, hydraulics, electronics, vacuum, and thermodynamics.
• Strong knowledge of hand tools and digital multimeters.
• Advanced knowledge of wafer processing parameters.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Basic proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain a passport for travel.
• Ability to meet on‑site safety, environmental, and COVID‑19 requirements.
