Customer Engineer II – Field Service

About the role

As a Customer Engineer II at Applied Materials, you will act as the primary liaison with customers in Shanghai, installing, maintaining, and upgrading advanced semiconductor equipment. You will use digital analytics and basic diagnostic techniques to troubleshoot and ensure optimal performance of complex systems.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with senior engineers to install, maintain, and upgrade customer equipment.
• Utilize digital analytics for troubleshooting and apply diagnostic techniques under guidance.
• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on electrical, vacuum, mechanical, plasma, hydraulic, and gas systems.
• Coordinate directly with customers to ensure smooth operations and high‑quality service.
• Fulfill additional duties as assigned, adhering to safety and environmental guidelines.

Required profile

• Associate degree, military technical training, field service experience, or trade certification.
• 1–2 years of customer/field service support or related technical experience.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics.
• Basic mechanical aptitude with pneumatics, hydraulics, electronics, vacuum or thermodynamics.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain a passport for travel.
