Customer Engineer – DDP/MDP/CMP/ETCH

About the role

As a Customer Engineer at Applied Materials, you will serve as the primary liaison with customers, installing, maintaining and upgrading advanced semiconductor and display equipment. You will use digital analytics and basic diagnostic techniques to troubleshoot and ensure optimal equipment performance.

Key responsibilities

• Install, maintain and upgrade customer equipment.
• Apply basic diagnostic techniques to assess and resolve technical issues.
• Collaborate with senior engineers and customers to understand roadmaps and business challenges.
• Train and mentor junior field service engineers.
• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on electrical, vacuum, mechanical, plasma, hydraulic and gas systems.
• Coordinate and communicate directly with customers to ensure smooth operations.
• Fulfill additional duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Associate degree, military technical training, field‑service experience or trade certification.
• 4–7 years of experience in the semiconductor or equipment support industry.
• Advanced mechanical aptitude with pneumatics, hydraulics, electronics, vacuum and thermodynamics.
• Strong knowledge of hand tools and digital multimeters.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Basic proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
