Customer Engineer – CMP (Field Service)

About the role

As a Field Service Engineer (Customer Engineer) at Applied Materials, you will act as the direct liaison with customers, installing, maintaining and upgrading semiconductor equipment. You will leverage digital analytics and basic diagnostic techniques to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.

Key responsibilities

• Install, maintain and upgrade customer equipment.
• Apply basic diagnostic techniques and digital analytics to assess and address equipment issues.
• Collaborate with senior engineers and customers to understand roadmaps, process flows and business challenges.
• Train and mentor junior field service engineers.
• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on electrical, vacuum, mechanical, plasma, hydraulic and gas systems.
• Coordinate and communicate directly with customers to ensure smooth operations.

Required profile

• Associate degree, military technical training, field service experience or trade certification.
• 4–7 years of experience in the semiconductor or equipment support industry.
• Advanced mechanical aptitude with pneumatics, hydraulics, electronics, vacuum and thermodynamics.
• Strong knowledge of hand tools and digital multimeters.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Basic proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain a passport for travel.
