Customer Engineer – CMP (Field Service)

About the role

As a Customer Engineer (CMP) at Applied Materials you will act as the primary liaison with customers, installing, maintaining and upgrading semiconductor equipment. You will use digital analytics and diagnostic tools to troubleshoot complex issues while ensuring high‑quality service delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Install, maintain and upgrade customer equipment.
• Apply troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills using company diagnostic tools and documentation.
• Follow and generate documented procedures and published task plans.
• Communicate with customers and internal business units, leading projects as necessary.
• Train and mentor junior Field Service Engineers.
• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on electrical, vacuum, mechanical, plasma, hydraulic and gas systems.
• Fulfill additional duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree.
• 7–10 years of experience in the semiconductor or equipment support industry.
• Advanced mechanical aptitude with pneumatics, hydraulics, electronics, vacuum and thermodynamics.
• Strong knowledge of hand tools and digital multimeters.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain a passport for travel.
