China Enterprise Technology Intern (CET)

About the role

Roche is looking for a versatile and highly motivated Enterprise Technology Intern to join its China Enterprise Technology (CET) team in Shanghai. This hybrid role bridges technical project management, DevOps engineering and operations research, and lasts 3 to 6 months. You will help drive infrastructure modernization by coordinating the migration of over 100 GitLab projects, while also designing a linear programming model to optimize GPU resource allocation for data-heavy scientific workloads such as bioinformatics and computational chemistry.

Key responsibilities

• Act as project coordinator for cross-functional IT, DevOps and scientific computing teams, facilitating meetings, tracking milestones and timelines with Agile methods, maintaining documentation and KPIs, and reporting progress to technical leads and stakeholders.
• Plan and execute the migration of 100+ GitLab projects into a unified, secure enterprise environment, protecting source code, commit history, access controls and environment variables, updating CI/CD pipelines, and creating automated scripts and user guides.
• Formulate a linear programming model to schedule and allocate computing resources for intensive workloads (genomics, drug discovery simulations, AI/ML modeling), analyze compute constraints and job priorities, implement optimization solutions in Python, and deliver a proof-of-concept scheduling algorithm.

Required profile

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Maths, Bioinformatics, Data Science or a related quantitative field.
• Strong interest in scientific computing, healthcare technology or bioinformatics infrastructure.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills, able to work independently in a dynamic environment.
• Fluent in both Mandarin and English, written and spoken.

Required skills

• Experience with version control systems (Git) and an understanding of CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong Python and foundational knowledge of mathematical optimization and linear programming.
• Familiarity with Agile frameworks and tools such as Jira, Confluence or Monday.
