Brownfield Retrofit Engineer – Equipment Modernization

About the role

The Brownfield Retrofit Engineer will lead the modernization of legacy production equipment and control systems for Bosch Powertrain Systems in Wuxi. You will work across the full upgrade chain, from assessing existing machinery to commissioning new hardware and software solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse mechanical, electrical and control logic of existing equipment to establish a baseline for upgrades.
• Develop and manage Brownfield upgrade projects, defining scope, schedule, resources and risk mitigation.
• Create test benches and validation environments for legacy components before migration.
• Operate AI‑assisted conversion tools to generate Nexeed Automation library blocks and control programs from legacy sources.
• Validate generated library code against functional baselines and build reusable PLC libraries.
• Lead hardware commissioning, integrating PLCs, drives, safety and mechanical interfaces, and conduct FAT, SAT and ramp‑up support.
• Troubleshoot field issues across hardware, bus, PLC logic, HMI, MES and mechanical layers, and document knowledge transfer.

Required profile

• Strong understanding of industrial equipment, PLC programming and control system architecture.
• Proven experience in managing complex engineering projects in a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to assess technical risk and devise feasible modernization roadmaps.
• Excellent problem‑solving skills and capacity to work with cross‑functional teams.
