Associate – Corporate Credit Risk Management (China)

About the role

Join Santander’s Credit Risk team in Shanghai as an Associate focused on corporate credit risk management for large Chinese corporates and multinational companies. You will work closely with bankers and product partners to analyse business plans, assess transactions and present recommendations to the head office in Europe.

Key responsibilities

• Rating Analysis: Analyse each client, prepare ratings and manage the validation process.
• Risk Approval: Coordinate with bankers and product partners to assess credit facilities, business plan viability, risk mitigation and recommend approvals.
• Portfolio Monitoring: Monitor post‑approval transactions, control global exposure, update ratings and limits, and ensure regulatory reporting.
• Risk Culture: Promote a risk‑aware culture where risk is considered everyone’s responsibility.

Required profile

• University degree.
• Approximately 5 years of corporate credit or risk management experience, including credit analysis and approval processes.
• Strong understanding of the Chinese market and business environment.
• Background in corporate and trade finance products is valued.
• Solid grasp of quantitative risk measurement tools.
• Strong financial analysis and presentation skills.
• Fluent in English and Mandarin; Spanish is a plus.
• Proficient in Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
• Ability to work under pressure and in a team environment.
