Assistant Accountant

About the role

The Assistant Accountant joins the global corporate Finance & Legal team, which has offices in Ghent (Belgium), Manchester (UK), Timisoara (Romania) and Asia. The role covers accounts payable, staff expense management, tax declaration, government reporting, month-end support and general administrative tasks.

Key responsibilities

• Review employee reimbursement requests
• Help handle the accounts payable process (Bank of China system in Shanghai, Cathay Bank system in Taiwan)
• Issue invoices (Fapiao) to domestic and overseas clients
• Assist with local bookkeeping using Kingdee and prepare bank journals in SAP
• Process monthly VAT declarations and quarterly CIT declarations
• File vouchers and prepare government statistical reports
• Support month-end procedures and reconciliation with the accountants
• Perform other work assigned by the Finance Accountant
• Handle miscellaneous admin work such as setting up laptops for new hires, purchasing office supplies, helping with office relocation and receiving visitors

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in finance and accounting
• Working towards an accountancy qualification (Certificate of the Accounting/Junior Accountant or equivalent)
• At least 1 year of experience in accounting or audit with a good understanding of finance office functions
• Thorough knowledge of accounting principles
• Proficiency in written English; good oral English is a plus

• Hands-on experience with accounting software
• Good Microsoft Office knowledge, ideally strong Excel skills
• Planning and organisational skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
• Strong communication skills, service-minded and eager to learn
