Advisor to VP & Chief Risk Officer

About the role

The Advisor to the Vice President & Chief Risk Officer supports the VP&CRO in delivering strategic, operational and risk‑related objectives across the Bank. Based at NDB Headquarters in Shanghai, the role involves high‑level analysis, stakeholder liaison and project leadership.

Key responsibilities

• Review complex proposals and provide comprehensive recommendations that incorporate multiple stakeholder perspectives.
• Critically analyse agenda papers for various Bank committees and advise the VP&CRO on decision‑making.
• Conduct independent research, analysis and insights on strategic and operational issues, including emerging trends.
• Build and maintain collaborative relationships with internal divisions and external senior officials, development finance institutions and multilateral organisations.
• Support the Vice President in high‑level meetings with government officials, financial institutions and development partners.
• Provide oversight and quality assurance for key documents and outputs under the Vice‑Presidency.
• Motivate and challenge team members to improve operational efficiency and governance.
• Lead special projects, initiatives and other assignments delegated by the Vice President.

Required profile

• Master’s degree or equivalent in a relevant field from a reputable university.
• Minimum of 12 years of experience with a proven track record in leadership roles within government, multilateral institutions or major financial organisations.
• Relevant professional certifications are an advantage.
