Veterinary Nurse (Chengdu Bear Rescue Center)

About the role

Animals Asia is seeking a qualified Veterinary Nurse to support veterinary surgeons at the Chengdu Bear Rescue Center. The role combines hands‑on animal care, clinic management, and training of junior staff to ensure high standards of animal welfare.

Key responsibilities

• Assist veterinary surgeons with anesthesia and monitor vital parameters for bears and other animals.
• Supervise the small‑animal clinic: manage appointments, client interactions, records, preventive medicine, and nursing care.
• Maintain equipment, infrastructure, and stock of medications and consumables.
• Lead preventive health programs for bears, including faecal floats, endoparasite treatments, and monthly health checks.
• Implement medical plans prescribed by surgeons and coordinate medication delivery with bear‑care teams.
• Provide nursing care to hospitalized bears and ensure accurate hospital record documentation.
• Participate in emergency training such as darting and CPR, and supervise related drills.

Required profile

• Qualified veterinary nurse with experience supporting veterinary surgeons.
• Proven ability to supervise clinic operations and junior veterinary staff.
• Strong record‑keeping and reporting skills.
• Willingness to work on‑site in Chengdu and respond to radio calls as needed.
