System Engineer – Product Development

About the role

Philips is seeking a System Engineer to join its Oral Healthcare team at the Innovation Center in Shenzhen. You will ensure product development follows the Philips V‑model, delivering safe, reliable solutions that exceed consumer expectations.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure the product development team and ODM/OEM suppliers adhere to the Philips V‑model process.
• Coordinate system integration activities throughout design and development phases.
• Translate business and user requirements into product requirements and drive the integration plan.
• Develop and maintain product design FMEA and support element design FMEAs.
• Set up and manage the database documenting V‑model outputs and communicate maturity status to management.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Biomedical Engineering.
• 5+ years of experience in a product development environment.
• Hands‑on experience with systems engineering across the full product lifecycle.
• Familiarity with regulated medical‑device standards such as FDA QSR and ISO 13485.
• Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with global cross‑functional teams.

Required skills

• Requirement management using DOORS or a similar tool.
• System Integration and System Verification.
• Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) concepts.
• Knowledge of FDA Quality System Regulations and ISO 13485 compliance.
• Design for Six Sigma methods and tools.
