Software Engineer I – Backend

About the role

GOAT Group is seeking a Backend Engineer to design and implement new features across multiple backend applications. You will enhance the core Ruby on Rails platform and help build a more scalable, service‑driven architecture that powers our global e‑commerce ecosystem.

Key responsibilities

• Manage large‑scope projects and deliver stable, well‑tested features on schedule.
• Formulate efficient plans, make technical recommendations, and improve the codebase while minimizing risk.
• Identify, fix, and proactively avoid bugs and performance bottlenecks.
• Coordinate seamlessly with product, design, and other engineering teams.
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to team processes.

Required profile

• BS degree preferred.
• 2–5 years of software engineering experience, preferably with Ruby on Rails (experience with Python, Go, PHP, or Java also acceptable).
• Background in e‑commerce or web applications.
• Comfortable with web‑service design patterns and trade‑offs.
• Quick learner, self‑starter, able to work autonomously under increasing responsibility.
