Senior/Principal Physician (GI) – Clinical Research Lead

About the role

The Senior/Principal Physician (GI) will provide technical leadership for compound or indication development within a cross‑functional team. This role drives the design, execution, analysis and interpretation of clinical studies while ensuring compliance with Good Clinical Practice and regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities

• Lead China development strategy and portfolio planning for the GI therapeutic area.
• Develop and review clinical protocols, prepare for governance committee reviews, and interact with health authorities.
• Act as medical lead for clinical trials, coordinating with cross‑functional partners to deliver study outcomes.
• Quantify benefits, risks, value and uncertainty of clinical programs and communicate findings.
• Maintain project information integrity, quality standards and strategic alignment.
• Network with internal and external experts, providing medical consultancy and sharing expertise.
• Coach and supervise junior physicians, fostering knowledge transfer.
• Stay current with best practices and emerging developments in gastro‑intestinal clinical research.

Required profile

• Master’s degree or higher in a medical discipline.
• Minimum 7 years of experience as a clinical research physician in pharmaceutical R&D.
• Proven experience managing and designing clinical trials, preferably in the GI therapeutic area.
• Strong understanding of GCP, regulatory requirements and clinical trial governance.
• Desirable: PhD in a scientific discipline and extensive experience with complex trial management.
