Senior/Principal Gastrointestinal Physician

About the role

The Senior/Principal Gastrointestinal Physician will provide technical leadership for compound or indication programs within a cross‑functional team. This role drives the design, execution, analysis and interpretation of clinical studies while ensuring compliance with Good Clinical Practice and regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities

• Lead China development strategy and planning for all portfolio projects within the GI therapeutic area.
• Develop and review clinical protocols, prepare for governance committee reviews, and interact with health authorities.
• Act as medical lead on clinical trials, collaborating with cross‑functional partners to deliver high‑quality studies.
• Quantify benefits, risks, value and uncertainty of clinical trials as a strategic physician expert.
• Maintain project information integrity, strategy, and quality standards throughout study lifecycles.
• Network with internal and external experts, providing medical consultancy and sharing expertise across teams.
• Coach and supervise junior physicians, ensuring knowledge transfer and best‑practice adoption.

Required profile

• Master’s degree or higher in a medical discipline.
• Minimum 7 years of experience as a clinical research physician in pharma R&D.
• Proven experience managing and designing complex clinical trials.
• Therapeutic‑area expertise in gastroenterology.
• PhD in a scientific discipline is desirable.
