Senior Test Development Engineer

About the role

As a Test Development Engineer you will create new testing methods that turn engineering concepts into practical, testable solutions within Philips' Functional Development and Test & Verification laboratories. You will work closely with cross‑functional teams and ODM suppliers to conduct testing on Philips Oral Healthcare devices and support verification and production activities.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse system requirements and develop test methods and equipment to ensure smooth product development.
• Establish measurement methodologies and characterization approaches for new technologies and product functions.
• Design and develop custom test systems, fixtures, instrumentation, and laboratory capabilities.
• Select, integrate, and apply sensing technologies such as pressure, force, torque, flow, displacement, vibration, acoustics, optical and environmental sensors.
• Develop data acquisition systems and measurement workflows to support product characterization and verification.
• Perform test method validation, Measurement System Analysis (MSA) and capability assessments.
• Define measurement uncertainty and ensure repeatability, reproducibility and robustness of test methods.
• Analyze experimental data and create engineering models linking measurable parameters to product performance and consumer benefits.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechatronics, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
• 10+ years of experience in test development or a closely related field.
• Strong problem‑solving skills with familiarity of problem‑solving tools.
• Proven track record of working with cross‑functional development teams to deliver test solutions on time.
• Experience with medical device testing (FDA regulated) and standards such as ISO 13485 or 21 CFR 820 is a plus.
