Senior Software QA Engineer

About the role

As a Senior Software QA Engineer within the Global Digital Factory ECO (G‑ECO/MD), you will ensure the quality of modern web applications used by BASF Coatings and external customers. Working in an agile DevOps team, you will contribute to reliable, performant, and user‑focused digital products through systematic testing and continuous quality improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Define test strategies and design automated testing solutions for functional and non‑functional quality goals.
• Develop and maintain automated test suites (functional, regression, performance) and integrate them into CI/CD pipelines.
• Collaborate with developers to validate new features, identify defects early, and support automated testing.
• Test modern web applications, cloud solutions, and REST APIs using tools such as Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, Postman, and JMeter.
• Participate in monitoring, performance testing, and DevOps activities to ensure reliable production operations.
• Document test strategies, test cases, results, and quality insights for transparency and maintainability.

Required profile

• Degree in computer or information science or equivalent education.
• Minimum 3 + years of professional experience in software quality assurance or testing.
• Proven ability to create and maintain test plans, test cases, and structured testing documentation.
• Strong defect identification and reporting skills for web applications, cloud solutions, and REST APIs.

Required skills

• Automated testing frameworks: Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, Cucumber/Gherkin.
• Testing tools: Postman, SOAP UI, Gatling, JMeter.
• Programming languages for automation: JavaScript, TypeScript, Python.
• SQL basics and understanding of microservice architecture.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Azure DevOps testing integrations, and automated deployment workflows.
