Senior Software Engineer – Java, Oracle & Bash

About the role

State Street is seeking a senior software engineer to maintain and enhance its global foreign‑exchange (FX) trading platform. The position focuses on Java development, Oracle database management, and Bash scripting within an Agile, globally distributed team.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain enterprise‑level Java applications supporting high‑volume FX transactions.
• Collaborate with developers across multiple time zones in sprint planning, daily stand‑ups, and retrospectives.
• Write and maintain Bash scripts for deployment and system‑maintenance tasks.
• Participate in code reviews and promote best‑practice development standards.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex production issues, ensuring performance, security, and scalability.
• Contribute to architectural design with increasing independence.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of full‑lifecycle Java application development experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field (Master’s preferred).
• Excellent written and reading English skills.
• Strong communication and collaboration abilities in a global team.
