Senior Mechanical Engineer – Ultrasound

About the role

The Senior Mechanical Engineer will lead the design, development, and optimisation of mechanical components for ultrasound products, focusing on plastic part design and tooling. You will work with cross‑functional teams to deliver high‑quality, reliable, and manufacturable ultrasound systems that meet regulatory and performance standards.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop plastic components, ensuring durability, precision and compliance with medical standards.
• Oversee injection‑mould tooling design, collaborate with vendors to optimise cost, efficiency and quality.
• Select appropriate plastics (ABS, PC, PEEK) based on mechanical, thermal and biocompatibility requirements.
• Apply Design for Manufacturability (DFM) principles to minimise defects and production costs.
• Lead prototyping, conduct mechanical testing and perform tolerance stack‑up analysis.
• Manage mechanical engineering projects, timelines, budgets and provide technical guidance to junior engineers.

Required profile

• Master’s or Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering with 10+ years of experience.
• Proven ability to technically lead a team and work in a global, cross‑functional environment.
• Experience with configuration‑management tools (eMarix, Windchill, SAP) and documentation.
• Knowledge of international medical quality and regulatory standards (IEC, FDA, CE, etc.) is a plus.

• Plastic part design and injection mould tooling.
• Material selection for medical applications (ABS, PC, PEEK).
• CAD tools: ProE, SolidWorks, Windchill.
• FEA tools: ANSYS Classic, ANSYS Workbench.
• DFM, DFSS, DFMEA, GD&T, tolerance stack‑up analysis.
• Thermal modelling and analysis.
• Configuration‑management systems (eMarix, Windchill, SAP).
