Senior Logistics Officer

About the role

The Senior Logistics Officer is responsible for managing sample logistics and warehousing operations in China. The role ensures customer satisfaction, cost‑effective service delivery, and strict compliance with BASF policies, government regulations, and Transportation and Distribution Safety (TDS) requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate daily sample receiving, picking, packing, labeling, filling, stocktaking and write‑off activities with the logistics service provider (LSP) following SOPs and safety standards.
• Monitor process performance (e.g., on‑time MIGO/PGI), take corrective actions for deviations, and maintain 5S standards on‑site.
• Handle logistics expense settlement, regulatory documentation, customs paperwork and ensure timely payment compliance.
• Investigate non‑conformances, document root causes, and drive corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) with cross‑functional teams.
• Perform regular audits, sample checks and support certification maintenance (e.g., IATA Dangerous Goods, safety qualifications).
• Analyse operational data to identify improvement opportunities, prepare data‑driven reports and support digitalisation initiatives.

Required profile

• College degree or higher in International Trade, Logistics, Supply Chain or a related field.
• Minimum 3 years of logistics or supply‑chain experience; chemical‑industry experience preferred.
• Strong written and spoken English and Mandarin.
• Excellent multinational communication skills and strong analytical/problem‑solving abilities.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
• Experience with SAP (preferred) and flow‑charting tools.
• Knowledge of imports, exports, foreign trade regulations and TDS requirements.
• IATA Dangerous Goods certification (or ability to obtain).
