Senior Engineer – Lab Technical Service (PE)

About the role

BASF is a leading chemical company seeking a Senior Engineer to support its Lab Technical Service for high‑density polyethylene (HDPE) products. The role involves benchmarking product properties, optimizing downstream applications, and establishing laboratory functions to drive product competitiveness.

Key responsibilities

• Receive training, provide analytical services, and participate in installation, commissioning, calibration, and verification of new laboratory equipment.
• Perform routine and non‑routine analytical tasks, maintain and calibrate equipment, ensure proper housekeeping and waste disposal, and monitor equipment abnormalities.
• Support troubleshooting of sample analysis, assist marketing and manufacturing in developing new product grades and downstream applications, and conduct product qualification and certification.
• Study competitor benchmarks, engage with site technical departments, and drive product optimization and improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• College degree or higher in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or a related field.
• At least 3 years of experience in the polyethylene business, preferably with pipe extrusion, blow‑molding, blown film or injection processes.
• Familiarity with typical plastic QC laboratory equipment and strong computer skills.
• Good communication skills in Mandarin and ability to read English technical documents.
