Senior Customer Engineer II

About the role

Applied Materials is seeking a Senior Customer Engineer II to join its field service team in Chengdu. You will work directly with customers to install, maintain, and upgrade advanced semiconductor equipment, supporting the rapid commercialization of next‑generation chips.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with senior field service engineers to install, maintain, and upgrade customer equipment.
• Use digital analytics and basic diagnostic techniques to troubleshoot equipment issues.
• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on electrical, vacuum, mechanical, plasma, hydraulic, and gas systems (training provided).
• Read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics to assess technical problems.
• Communicate directly with customers and coordinate service activities.

Required profile

• Associate degree, military technical training, field service experience, or trade certification.
• 1–2 years of customer/field service support experience (2–4 years preferred).
• Ability to read electrical and mechanical schematics and use hand tools, digital multimeters, and basic diagnostic equipment.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain a passport for travel.

Required skills
