Senior Associate I – Scientific Education

About the role

Alcon is seeking a Senior Associate I to lead scientific education initiatives focused on cataract surgery. You will be responsible for driving the adoption of Phacoemulsification techniques and supporting surgeons, hospitals, and field teams across China.

Key responsibilities

• Increase conversion rates of surgeons and hospitals to Phaco as the first‑line cataract procedure.
• Provide OR and wet‑lab instruction for cataract surgeons transitioning from ECCE/SICS to Phaco and from Phaco to refractive cataract surgery.
• Train surgeon assistants, biometry technicians, and non‑cataract surgeons on Phaco procedures and advanced Alcon technologies.
• Demonstrate and coach field personnel on proper product use, surgical technique, OR protocol, and professional conduct.
• Assess and select target trainees and hospitals on‑site to ensure optimal training outcomes.
• Collaborate with external consultants and proctors to maintain high surgical quality.
• Support field sales in product demonstrations for Phaco development targets.
• Provide academic support to key opinion leaders and build expert networks.
• Document all training activities, evaluations, and compliance reports.

Required profile

• Experience in ophthalmic surgical education and training.
• Strong knowledge of cataract surgery techniques, including Phaco, ECCE, SICS, and refractive procedures.
• Ability to work on‑site in operating rooms and wet‑lab environments.
• Excellent communication skills for teaching and coaching diverse audiences.

• Use of Alcon Centurion system with active fluids.
• Familiarity with Alcon products: OZiL, Laureate IOL, Single‑Piece AcrySof IOL, Natural, IQ, DuoVisc, Clearcut knives.
• Wet‑lab and OR instructional expertise.
