Senior Application and Systems Engineer - Automotive UWB Radar

About the role

NXP is looking for a Senior Application and Systems Engineer in Shanghai to drive the development of reference solutions and proof-of-concepts for innovative UWB radar use cases such as parking assistance, seat belt reminders, occupant monitoring and beyond. The role combines algorithm design and validation with close work with system architects, product engineers and sales teams.

Key responsibilities

• Drive the development of reference solutions and proof-of-concepts for innovative UWB radar use cases.
• Design, implement and validate advanced radar algorithms, simulations and prototypes for next-generation UWB applications.
• Work with system architects and product engineers to define and realize new automotive UWB use cases.
• Support new product introductions by collaborating with Sales, Marketing, FAE and Product Engineering teams.
• Build relationships with key customers, collect requirements and identify opportunities in automotive and industrial UWB applications.
• Develop and deliver technical documentation, system-level support materials and training content.

Required profile

• Master's or PhD in Electronics or Electrical Engineering, with strong expertise in radar engineering, signal processing and machine learning.
• Solid background in connectivity, RF, mmWave radar or UWB or similar wireless technologies; knowledge of semiconductor and automotive markets is an advantage.
• Strong analytical skills, system thinking and problem-solving ability.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, fluent in written and spoken English.

Required skills

• Programming in C/C++, Python and MATLAB, with hands-on experience in RTOS systems and algorithm development.
• Signal processing and communication systems, including modulation schemes, angle of arrival estimation and beamforming.
