About the role

The Assistant Editor (Nursing) supports the Comprehensive Editorial Evaluation Team by applying subject‑matter expertise to manage manuscript workflows in nursing and health science journals. This entry‑level position is ideal for candidates with research experience, author or reviewer background, and a strong interest in scholarly publishing.

Key responsibilities

• Screen new submissions for scope, integrity and suitability, making initial editorial decisions.
• Select and invite appropriate peer reviewers, evaluate reviewer reports, and determine manuscript outcomes (accept, reject, revise, refer).
• Handle revised manuscripts, assess the need for further review, and manage transfer destinations within the journal portfolio.
• Identify and raise integrity concerns, and act on rebuttals promptly.
• Participate in pilot and special projects, reporting findings within set timelines.
• Contribute to performance improvement by analysing peer‑review metrics and suggesting enhancements.
• Engage in training and development activities, maintain subject‑area knowledge, and support vendor accreditation programs.

Required profile

• Academic background in nursing, health science or life science with research experience.
• Experience as an author, reviewer, or editorial associate; limited handling‑editor experience is a plus.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail for manuscript evaluation.
• Ability to work collaboratively with senior editors and cross‑functional teams.
