Manager, Public Relations, Chinese Mainland

About the role

The Hong Kong Tourism Board is seeking a seasoned Public Relations Manager to lead PR strategy and media relations for the Chinese Mainland market from our Beijing office. You will shape the board’s image, drive media coverage, and support integrated marketing campaigns that promote Hong Kong as a premier travel destination.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute PR strategies aligned with the Annual Business Plan for China.
• Manage media relations, leveraging national partnerships and building relationships in secondary cities.
• Support regional marketing managers in integrated consumer marketing campaigns across China.
• Collaborate with senior marketing leaders to plan publicity programs for new experiences, major events, and campaigns.
• Engage influential media groups and KOLs to extend Hong Kong’s exposure nationally and regionally.
• Handle crisis and negative publicity proactively.
• Coordinate PR and consumer events, including media briefings and roadshows.
• Provide PR input for integrated consumer campaign plans.
• Monitor and manage performance of PR agencies, news clipping houses, event agencies, and other service providers.
• Manage PR budget, prepare reports, and ensure compliance with finance, legal, and governance guidelines.

Required profile

• University degree, preferably in Journalism, Marketing Communications or PR.
• Minimum 8 years of solid experience in a PR agency, FMCG, or service industry.
• Proven expertise in integrated consumer marketing, public relations and crisis management.
• Strong partnership and relationship‑building abilities.
• Excellent written and spoken English and Chinese communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to resolve complex operational issues.
• Ability to multitask and work under pressure.
