Maintenance Engineer – Robotics

About the role

This Maintenance Engineer position sits within ABB's Robotics business, which is preparing for its acquisition by SoftBank Group. The role reports to the Production Engineering Manager and involves leading technical expertise assignments of medium complexity, developing technical solutions and services, and helping shape the technical expertise business strategy.

Key responsibilities

• Establish and improve the maintenance team, train team members and set up preventive maintenance mechanisms and schedules
• Set up maintenance plans in the equipment management system and carry out preventive maintenance on equipment
• Work with Production and Industrial Engineering teams to reduce equipment downtime, define MTTR and MTBF targets and keep production running smoothly
• Support the introduction, installation, commissioning and acceptance of new equipment, and oversee ordinary and extraordinary maintenance of equipment, production lines and facilities
• Define maintenance plans for new production lines or facilities and advise on improving reliability, maintainability and safety
• Maintain and update technical documentation, solve major technical problems and respond to emergencies and breakdowns to minimise disruption
• Propose improvement projects that reduce ordinary and extraordinary maintenance and optimise operational and energy efficiency

Required profile

• Bachelor or Master degree in Automation, Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Automation
• Over 5 years of experience in assembly line equipment maintenance; experience in automated equipment maintenance in automotive, electronics or high-end manufacturing is preferred
• Good team communication, proactive service-oriented mindset, strong problem analysis and solving skills, and a willingness to keep learning

Required skills

• Reading and drawing electrical schematics, analysing control circuits and wiring logic
• Familiarity with mechanical assembly drawings, pneumatic schematics and basic mechanical structures
• Familiarity with PLC and robot programs and troubleshooting
• Knowledge of electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems, sensors and cylinders, including on-site wiring and commissioning
• Proficiency in Word, Excel and PowerPoint
