MAE Project Engineer – Manufacturing Automation Equipment

About the role

The MAE Project Engineer will lead Manufacturing Automation Equipment projects from concept through design, procurement, installation, commissioning and final handover, ensuring they meet Bosch’s quality and safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage the entire project lifecycle for MAE projects, from concept through to final handover.
• Develop detailed project plans, schedules, budgets and allocate resources using tools such as MS Project.
• Create and review mechanical designs, specifications and layouts for non‑standard equipment and automation systems.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders (Production, Quality, Maintenance) and external vendors to ensure alignment and successful execution.
• Select and specify appropriate materials, components and systems, including pneumatic, hydraulic and mechanical transmission systems.
• Utilize 2D/3D CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks) for design creation, review and modification.
• Conduct risk assessments, troubleshoot technical issues and implement solutions throughout project phases.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards, industry regulations and internal quality procedures.
• Prepare and maintain comprehensive project documentation, including specifications, drawings, test protocols and progress reports.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Automation, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics or a related field.
• Minimum 6 years of hands‑on project management experience with non‑standard equipment or complex mechanical systems.
• Proven track record of delivering at least two complete equipment projects from concept to customer handover.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical design principles, engineering materials and manufacturing processes.
• Practical experience with industrial pneumatic and hydraulic systems and assembly processes.
• Fluent written and spoken English.
