Japanese Search Engine Optimization Specialist

About the role

We are seeking a Japanese Search Engine Optimization Specialist to drive organic growth and AI‑search visibility in the Japanese market. The ideal candidate combines hands‑on SEO expertise with strong Japanese writing abilities and a passion for the emerging GEO (Generative Engine Optimization) and AI Search landscape.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute end‑to‑end Japanese SEO content strategies, from keyword research to content planning and optimization.
• Write and refine Japanese‑language content tailored to local audiences.
• Audit existing assets, identify gaps, and implement improvements to boost organic performance.
• Optimize content for AI Search and GEO platforms, including Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Gemini, and other AI‑driven search experiences.
• Monitor brand visibility, citations, competitor activity, and AI‑generated answers, turning insights into actionable enhancements.

Required profile

• Bilingual proficiency in Japanese and Mandarin to collaborate with cross‑functional stakeholders.
• Minimum 3 years of hands‑on SEO experience, with at least 1 year focused on the Japanese market.
• JLPT N1‑level Japanese writing skills, supported by published content or writing samples.
• Demonstrated SEO growth results with clear, measurable outcomes.
• Practical experience implementing GEO/AI Search strategies, not just theoretical knowledge.
• Strong interest in the evolving AI Search ecosystem.
