Head of AI – China

About the role

You will own the AI agenda for Philips in China, defining use cases, technology stack, standards and delivery speed. Reporting to the Global Head of the AI Center of Excellence and a member of the China Management Team, you will sit in business and architecture reviews and be judged on shipped solutions with measurable value.

Key responsibilities

• Define and prioritize AI use cases across Health Systems, Personal Health, commercial, supply chain, service, quality and R&D functions in China and drive them to production.
• Lead a small multidisciplinary AI team (engineers, data scientists, solution architects, product lead) and partner daily with Philips China IT.
• Build and maintain a dual‑stack AI architecture using global models (OpenAI, Anthropic, Azure, AWS) and domestic Chinese models (Alibaba, ByteDance, Tencent, Baidu, Huawei) with a portable abstraction layer.
• Ensure data sovereignty, compliance with Chinese regulations (PIPL, Data Security Law, Cybersecurity Law, MLPS 2.0) and integrate AI solutions with local infrastructure and security.
• Establish AI fluency across the organization, create a community of practice, and define KPI framework for adoption, performance and business value.

Required profile

• Proven track record of shipping AI/ML solutions into production in China with real users and measurable outcomes.
• Deep expertise in modern AI stack (LLMs, generative AI, RAG, MLOps/LLMOps, evaluation, cloud‑native architecture).

Required skills

• Experience with global AI platforms (Azure AI, AWS, OpenAI, Anthropic) and Chinese cloud/model providers (Alibaba Cloud, Volcano Engine, Tencent Cloud, Baidu AI Cloud, Huawei Cloud).
• Hands‑on knowledge of LLMs, prompt engineering, vector search, model serving and cost control.
• Familiarity with data governance, PIPL, DSL, CSL, MLPS compliance and AI registration processes in China.
