Hardware Functional Safety Engineer

About the role

Join a dedicated automotive hardware engineering team focused on electric power‑train control electronics. You will be responsible for ensuring the functional safety of motor controller and actuator platforms for next‑generation vehicles.

Key responsibilities

• Support system functional safety engineers by analysing safety requirements, defining architecture and developing HW safety plans.
• Perform DFMEA, FTA, DFA and FMEDA analyses; calculate SPFM, LFM and PMHF against ASIL targets using component failure rates.
• Design, implement and verify hardware safety mechanisms such as over‑current/over‑voltage protection, thermal protection, watchdogs, supply monitoring and sensor redundancy.
• Review supplier FMEDA reports and safety manuals, assess component selection from a functional‑safety perspective.
• Establish and maintain the hardware safety development process in line with ISO 26262, create safety cases and supporting evidence, and assist in audits and certification activities.
• Collaborate with system, software, test and quality teams and coordinate with customers and external assessors for safety releases.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical or Electronics Engineering or a related field.
• Fluent in English and Mandarin (written and spoken).
• Deep knowledge of ISO 26262 Part 5 and experience with FMEDA, FTA, DFA, and related safety metrics.
• Solid understanding of motor‑control hardware (gate drivers, current/voltage sensing, resolver/Hall position sensors, thermal management).
• Hands‑on experience with safety analysis tools (Medini, IQ‑FMEA) and requirements management tools (Doors, Codebeamer).
