Global Installation Engineer – New Graduate (Shanghai)

About the role

As a Field Service Engineer (Customer Engineer) at Applied Materials, you will act as the direct liaison with customers, installing, maintaining, and upgrading semiconductor equipment. The role is based in Shanghai and involves extensive travel to customer sites.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with Senior Field Service Engineers to install, maintain, and upgrade customer equipment.
• Use digital analytics and basic diagnostic techniques to troubleshoot technical issues.
• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on electrical, vacuum, mechanical, plasma, hydraulic, and gas systems (training provided).
• Coordinate and communicate directly with customers to ensure smooth operations.

Required profile

• Completion of an Associate degree, military technical training, field service experience, or trade certification.
• Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn electrical and mechanical schematics.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain a passport for travel.
