Faculty Positions in AI Thrust (Tenure-Track & Teaching-Track)

About the role

The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou) invites applications for faculty positions within its Artificial Intelligence Thrust. Both tenure‑track and teaching‑track appointments are available at all academic ranks, covering research, teaching, and service in AI‑related fields.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct high‑impact research in foundational and applied AI, publish in top venues, and secure external funding.
• Teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses in AI, machine learning, computer vision, natural language processing, and related topics.
• Supervise graduate students, mentor junior faculty, and contribute to curriculum development.
• Collaborate across disciplines within the Information Hub and with external partners in the Greater Bay Area.
• Participate in departmental and university service, including committees and outreach activities.

Required profile

• Ph.D. in Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, or a closely related discipline.
• For tenure‑track: demonstrated research potential (Assistant Professor), proven research record and funding (Associate Professor), or international academic leadership (Professor).
• For teaching‑track: documented university‑level teaching experience, curriculum design skills, and a passion for student mentorship.
• Ability to teach AI courses at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels in English.
