Director of Rooms

About the role

The Director of Rooms will lead all Rooms Division departments at Kempinski Chongqing, ensuring smooth operations, exceptional guest experiences, and achievement of financial targets. This senior position combines operational oversight with talent development, aligning daily activities with the hotel’s strategic plan.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee all Rooms Division functions, maintaining high guest satisfaction scores (CSS ≥ 5, LQA ≥ 85%, ESS ≥ 75%).
• Prepare and monitor the department budget, manage profit and loss, and drive occupancy and revenue in line with forecasts.
• Collaborate with Revenue Management and Sales to optimise room rates, market share and overall profitability.
• Control labour costs, duty rosters and productivity while ensuring service quality.
• Lead talent development initiatives, identify high‑potential staff, create career plans and conduct regular coaching sessions.
• Recruit, interview and select candidates for the Rooms Division and regional needs.
• Review and improve workflows, implement policies and ensure clear communication with other department heads.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in hotel Rooms Division or similar hospitality operations.
• Strong financial acumen with experience in budgeting, P&L responsibility and revenue optimisation.
• Demonstrated ability to develop talent, mentor staff and manage high‑performing teams.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work cross‑functionally with sales, revenue management and other departments.
