Data Scientist – Retail Analytics (Greater China)

About the role

The Data Scientist will work within NielsenIQ's Data Science – Data Science Clients Team, bridging commercial teams and the data science group. You will support clients in Greater China (and possibly Asia‑Pacific) by turning large retail datasets into actionable insights and helping shape new study designs.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the primary liaison between data science and commercial teams, explaining methodology and addressing data irregularities.
• Analyse extensive retail data to uncover trends, opportunities, and root‑cause insights for client questions.
• Collaborate with key account clients to ensure data requirements are met and to improve NielsenIQ’s retail analysis methodology.
• Contribute to best‑practice development across country, cluster and regional data departments.

• Outgoing with strong communication skills to manage multiple internal and external stakeholders.
• Integrity‑driven, willing to work independently and admit knowledge gaps.
• Creative, enjoys experimenting with new tools and continuous learning.

Required skills

• Python or R programming
• Advanced Excel
• SQL or other database querying tools
• Statistical practices such as sampling, projection and modelling
• Data visualisation tools (Tableau or Power BI)
