Customer Engineer – MDP

About the role

As a Customer Engineer (MDP) at Applied Materials, you will act as the primary liaison with customers, installing, maintaining and upgrading advanced semiconductor and display equipment. You will use digital analytics and basic diagnostic techniques to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues while ensuring high‑quality service.

Key responsibilities

• Install, maintain and upgrade customer equipment, including electrical, vacuum, mechanical, plasma, hydraulic and gas systems.
• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance using diagnostic tools and collaborate with senior engineers and customers to understand roadmaps and business challenges.
• Train and mentor junior field service engineers.
• Coordinate directly with customers to ensure smooth operations and exceptional service.

Required profile

• Associate degree, military technical training, field service experience or trade certification.
• 4‑7 years of experience in the semiconductor or equipment support industry.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, electronics, vacuum and thermodynamics.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain a passport for travel.

Required skills

• Proficiency with hand tools and digital multimeters.
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
• Effective written and verbal communication.
