Customer Engineer III – Field Service

About the role

Applied Materials is a global leader in materials engineering solutions, designing and servicing equipment for semiconductor and display manufacturing. As a Customer Engineer III, you will act as the primary liaison with customers in Hefei, installing, maintaining and upgrading complex equipment while ensuring high‑quality service.

Key responsibilities

• Install, maintain and upgrade customer equipment in semiconductor and display production lines.
• Apply basic diagnostic techniques and digital analytics to troubleshoot technical issues.
• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on electrical, vacuum, mechanical, plasma, hydraulic and gas systems.
• Collaborate with senior engineers and customers to understand roadmaps, process flows and business challenges.
• Train and mentor junior field service engineers.

Required profile

• Associate degree, military technical training, field service experience or trade certification.
• 4–7 years of experience in the semiconductor or equipment support industry.
• Strong mechanical aptitude covering pneumatics, hydraulics, electronics, vacuum and thermodynamics.
• Proficiency with hand tools, digital multimeters and basic Microsoft Office applications.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain a passport for travel.
