Customer Engineer – Field Service (Guangzhou)

About the role

As a Customer Engineer (Field Service Engineer) at Applied Materials, you act as the primary liaison with customers, installing, maintaining and upgrading semiconductor equipment. You will use digital analytics for troubleshooting and apply basic diagnostic techniques while collaborating with senior engineers and customers to ensure smooth operations.

Key responsibilities

• Install, maintain and upgrade customer equipment.
• Apply basic diagnostic techniques to assess equipment and resolve technical issues, with guidance from senior engineers.
• Collaborate with senior engineers and customers to understand roadmaps, process flows and business challenges.
• Train and mentor junior field service engineers.
• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on electrical, vacuum, mechanical, plasma, hydraulic and gas systems.
• Coordinate and communicate directly with customers.

Required profile

• Associate degree, military technical training, field service experience or trade certification.
• 4‑7 years of experience in the semiconductor or equipment support industry.
• Advanced mechanical aptitude with pneumatics, hydraulics, electronics, vacuum and thermodynamics.
• Strong knowledge of hand tools and digital multimeters.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain a passport for travel.
