Customer Engineer – Field Service (DFT-C1)

About the role

As a Customer Engineer (Field Service Engineer) at Applied Materials you will act as the primary liaison with customers, installing, maintaining and upgrading semiconductor and display equipment. You will use digital analytics and basic diagnostic techniques to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues while working closely with senior engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with Senior Field Service Engineers to install, maintain and upgrade customer equipment.
• Use digital analytics for troubleshooting and apply basic diagnostic techniques.
• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on electrical, vacuum, mechanical, plasma, hydraulic and gas systems (training provided).
• Coordinate and communicate directly with customers to ensure smooth operations and exceptional service.

Required profile

• Associate degree, military technical training, field service experience or trade certification.
• Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn electrical and mechanical schematics.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain a passport for travel.

Required skills

• Digital analytics and basic diagnostic techniques.
• Mechanical aptitude and ability to read electrical/mechanical schematics.
• Knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, electronics, vacuum systems and thermodynamics.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
• Use of hand tools and digital multimeters.
