Customer Engineer (Field Service) – C1

About the role

As a Customer Engineer (C1) at Applied Materials you will act as the primary liaison with customers, installing, maintaining and upgrading advanced semiconductor equipment. The position combines hands‑on technical work with direct customer interaction in a fast‑paced, innovative environment.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with senior field service engineers to install, maintain and upgrade customer equipment.
• Use digital analytics and basic diagnostic techniques to troubleshoot equipment issues.
• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on electrical, vacuum, mechanical, plasma, hydraulic and gas systems (training provided).
• Coordinate directly with customers to ensure smooth operations and high‑quality service.

Required profile

• Associate degree, military technical training, field‑service experience or trade certification.
• Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn electrical and mechanical schematics.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills; valid driver’s license and ability to obtain a passport for travel.

Required skills

• Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
• Digital analytics and diagnostic techniques.
• Use of hand tools and digital multimeters.
• Knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, electronics, vacuum systems and thermodynamics.
