Customer Engineer – ETCH

About the role

As a Customer Engineer (Field Service Engineer) at Applied Materials, you will be the primary point of contact for customers, installing, maintaining and upgrading semiconductor equipment. You will work on‑site in Shanghai, using digital analytics and basic diagnostics to resolve technical issues while collaborating with senior engineers and customers.

Key responsibilities

• Install, maintain and upgrade customer equipment.
• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on electrical, vacuum, mechanical, plasma, hydraulic and gas systems.
• Use basic diagnostic techniques and digital analytics to troubleshoot equipment.
• Coordinate directly with customers to ensure smooth operations.
• Train and mentor junior field service engineers.

Required profile

• Associate degree, military technical training, field service experience or trade certification.
• 4‑7 years of experience in the semiconductor or equipment support industry.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, electronics, vacuum and thermodynamics.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain a passport for travel.
• Ability to meet on‑site safety, environmental and COVID‑19 requirements.
